Artificial Intelligence (AI) Image recognition. What is Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)? (Part-1)

Today we will be learning about the method through which Artificial Intelligence recognises images.

So join me on what Convolutional Neural Network is.

This sounds pretty complicated, right? Well, recognizes its a fancy word and you can easily throw this to your friends and make them think you're a genius.

Let's get started.

Why is CNN important?

Here's what I want you to do. Lock your phone and then unlock it.

Did your phone recognize your face? Well, that's the magic of CNN. They are usually used for object identification, computer vision, facial recognition, etc.

Basically whenever there is a need for the machine to know what is what. But why? Can you not simply give it some images to recognize?

Well, it does not always work. It's difficult for a computer to understand something even if there's a slight change in value. What does that mean?

Look at the two 8x8 pictures. Your smart brain can easily understand that's an X. Even if their positions are different.

That is where the computer would struggle. For it, they are two different images.

So CNN provides a mechanism where the computer can understand the different orientations of objects.

In the next article, we will see how this works.
